Some years ago, Iván pitched an idea to his cousin María: to write a book together about the legendary 2013 Leiva vs. Ferreiro tour. What really happened during that tour? Meteoro and Mr.Rabbit is a fictional autobiography that spins out from that question, chronicling a surreal odyssey in which Iván Ferreiro stumbles deeper and deeper into a chaotic world behind the scenes of a show that had one version onstage — the one the audience saw — and quite another backstage.
In this wildly imaginative novel, we follow a version of Iván who is as ambitious as he is clumsy, endearingly naïve, and gradually overwhelmed by a whirlwind of psychiatric disorders, quantum physics, parallel universes, or straight-up science fiction. It’s a circular narrative with a soundtrack led by women, laced with memories and absurd anecdotes, and full of references to the books, films, and TV series that shape Ferreiro’s inner universe. Real and imaginary characters alike populate this world — many of them deeply unhinged — painting an often hilarious portrait of the far less glamorous side of the sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll myth.
