Lyona

Lyona (Barcelona, 1979) is an illustrator, graphic designer, author of children’s books, and music video director. She has worked with musicians such as Love of Lesbian, Amaral, Carlos Sadness, Sidonie, Lori Meyers, The New Raemon, and Zahara. In her books and illustrations, Lyona has made it her mission to question the romantic myths of ideal love. Her aim is to show that another kind of love is possible—freer, more equal, and above all, more real. To this end, she employs a distinctly personal style that is both naïve and punk. She also has a plant named Cactusín and a cat named Lomo.

Reviews

Lyona’s books are small, illustrated oases of affection, joy, and subtle irony that help make this world a little better. They’re not just for children, nor just for adults. They’re for anyone who still has a little girl or boy inside them.
Moderna de Pueblo
Lyona's work connects with both young and old, and her characters speak of diversity and modern love in the best possible way: through freedom, imagination, and tenderness.
Nuria Labari
Lyona is one of the most unique, personal voices in children's and youth literature today. Her universe is bursting with tenderness and depth, her stories explore vital issues, and her characters embrace diversity and freedom with great emotional intelligence.
