Santi Balmes

Santi Balmes (1970) is the songwriter and lead singer of the indie band Love of Lesbian, with over 20 years of career behind him. His discography includes critically acclaimed albums such as Maniobras de escapismo, Cuentos chinos para niños del Japón, 1999, La noche eterna–los días no vividos, and the more recent El poeta Halley. The last three albums have reached number one on the charts and earned gold records, all without losing their bipolar character, oscillating between irreverence and unrestrained lyricism.

Reviews

Santi Balmes is a master of lyrics—just read his songs.
El Periódico
A hilarious novel about a profession that only seems fun to those who don’t know or suffer it: the life of a musician.
ABC
A true display of the most ruthless surreal humor. Brilliant.
El País
A fantastic showcase of the best ‘Balmesian’ humor.
La Vanguardia
The author crafts an acid yet complicit portrait of youth. The best depiction of adolescence.

Extraordinario... Balmes parece haber adivinado lo que pensábamos tantos adolescentes, y luego lo ha expresado mucho mejor de lo que nosotros podríamos hacerlo. He aquí una novela para silenciar a los que dudaban,
Extraordinary… Balmes seems to have guessed what so many teenagers were thinking, then expressed it far better than we ever could. This is a novel to silence the doubters.
